Kata Noi Phuket is a delightful and slightly hidden gem of a beach on the southwest side of Phuket. It lies adjacent to its larger and busier sister beaches of Kata and Karon. I was lucky enough to have a little stay-cation, a weekend discovering a different part of our beautiful paradise island.

Kata Noi Phuket beach is only around 700 meters long. As one of Phuket’s smaller beaches, it is aptly named ‘Noi’, which means ‘little’ in Thai. It houses mainly one resort which is the four star Katathani Resort and it lies directly on the beach.

The beach entrance from the street level is about a hundred steps and it leads past the ever popular Mom Tri’s Villa Royale to the right. You can also drive down to the end of the road and enter through the resort at the bottom.

Once you find the beach, you’ll be welcomed by the crystal clear waters, soft sands, a lush green jungle backdrop. Kata Noi Phuket provides plenty of shade in the morning while you enjoy a coffee to the sound of the crashing waves.

Now in the ‘green season’, the waves are high and the currents can be strong. During December through to April, the ocean is flat, almost lake-like. If you’re a surfer, Kata Noi Phuket is perfect around the low season.

What I love about this beach is its enclosed and relatively quiet atmosphere. Consequently, there is plenty of space to lie around with a good book, splash around in the waves or play some beach volleyball. The beaches’ lack of high-rise buildings adds to its intimate feel.

At night, the soft glow of the dimmed, yellow lighting of the resort and surrounding lights from Villa Royale bring a little bit of magic to the evening atmosphere.

Mom Tri’s Kitchen is a must try. Trip Advisor reviews rave about the food, the views and the fantastic service of this resort restaurant. I’ve dined there a few times and it’s never disappointed.

Stop by for lunch or a fine dinner and sit back, relax and enjoy. You might even be lucky enough to catch a live saxophone player belting out some classics as you take in the sea breeze.
