Thailand King

Thailand King Bhumibol Adulyadej will not make a public appearance today on his birthday after a doctor checked his condition late yesterday, the Bureau of the Royal Household said in a statement.

The Thailand king, who turns 87 today, had been due to give a speech at the Amarin Winitchai Throne Hall.

The king’s condition had improved after he received treatment for a condition affecting his large intestine, the palace said on Nov. 14. He was admitted to Bangkok’s Siriraj hospital on Oct. 3 suffering from an infection and fever and later underwent an operation to have his gall bladder removed.
