Healthcheck from the BBC
Health Check this week from The BBC in London reports on a new campaign in Madrid that aims to raise awareness and get people the treatment they need.
When people travel abroad they can bring more than their luggage. That’s the case with Chagas disease a tropical parasitic disease spread by an insect that causes heart failure and premature death.
It’s little known outside its native Latin America, though international travel means there are now many cases in Spain and the USA. Often there are no symptoms until it is too late, making Chagas disease difficult to diagnose.
Catch Health Check from the BBC on Sunday morning at 8 AM on 91.5 FM and 102.5 FM On-Air, Online and every show On-Demand at Phuket FM Radio or listen in through the mobile apps that a free to download at Google Play, IPhone and Android
